M.S. Educational Leadership, Rockhurst University (anticipated December 2012)
B.S. in Business Administration, University of Kansas
After earning my B.S. in Business Administration with a minor in Political Science from the University of Kansas, working as an Investment Executive and raising three children, I chose to pursue my fascination of the sciences. With a foundation in biology, chemistry and physics in place, I faced the decision: research, teach or practice.
As a learning specialist, I combine all three disciplines. I love the challenge of coaching and empowering people to reach their full potential. I finish my M.S. in Educational Leadership in December 2012 at Rockhurst University. My Master's degree has honed my educational coaching skills and kept me abreast of the latest trends in education, technology and how to maximize learning opportunities. I am a proud lifelong learner and am thankful to work with such engaged colleagues and students.
Here in Counseling and Educational Support, we work as a team of learning specialists, psychologists, and psychiatrist to provide support for the whole person. Nothing is more rewarding to me than seeing the look on students' faces when a concept comes together in their minds. Our team is ready to help you reach your personal goals. We offer facilitated content connection and question groups to medical students, facilitated question groups to nursing students, and individual educational counseling to all students at KUMC. KUMC students' diverse backgrounds contribute to a vibrant and highly motivated learning environment.
I present to university students, faculty and staff on topics including time management, learning styles, strategic reading, test taking strategies, board certification exams, intellectual well being, as well as study strategies.
In my free time, I enjoy long walks with my husband, gardening, tennis, puzzles, backpacking and traveling with or to visit our three children, Natalie (22), Emily (20) and Max (18).
