Director of Educational Support Services
Counseling & Educational Support Services

M.A. in Special Education / Learning Disabilities, University of Missouri-Kansas City
B.S. in Biology and Education, University of Colorado

I received a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Education from the University of Colorado and a Master's degree in Special Education / Learning Disabilities from the University of Missouri, Kansas City.  I have taught Life Sciences and Biology to elementary through secondary students in both public and private schools from Colorado to Illinois.  How people learn and process scientific concepts is the thread which has been woven throughout my teaching career.  I love to figure out how people learn best and how they can make connections between learned concepts and prior knowledge.

For the last 20 years my focus has been on students in higher education and professional schools, working mainly with medical students and doctors who have been preparing for their National Boards.  I have been at KUMC for more than 10 years now and feel so fortunate to be working with such highly motivated students and residents.

When I'm not at KU, I enjoy being in my garden, playing golf, cooking, needle pointing, and reading books.
