AAUW Educational Funding and Awards
AAUW has a long and distinguished history of advancing educational and professional opportunities for women in the United States and around the globe. Application deadlines vary from November 15 to January 15 for four awards geared towards women in graduate and postdoctoral programs. Award amounts range from $2,000-$30.000. Air Force Health Professions Scholarship Program
This award is for accepted U.S. citizens in medical, nursing and health professions programs. Students receiving this award receive more than $17,000 annually for up to four years. The award pays all tuition, books, and most fees and provides a monthly stipend while attending school. For information on this, visit www.airforce.com or more information call 1-800-588-5260. American Cancer Society Scholarship - Graduate Scholarships in Cancer Nursing Practice
This award supports graduate students pursuing a master's degree in cancer nursing or doctorate of nursing practice (DNP). Awards may be for two years, with stipend of $10,000 per year. Applications may be obtained online at their site. Deadline is February 1.
This educational award allows KUMC students to kick their debt and meet the needs of the surrounding communities. In exchange for completing ten to twelve months of full-time service with AmeriCorps, students earn an education award of $4,725 to help pay for college or pay back student loans. Army ROTC Nurse Scholarships
Whether you're a college-bound high school student or already attending a college or university, Army ROTC has scholarships available. Scholarships are awarded based on a student's merit and grades, not financial need. Students should contact Army ROTC prior to the start of their Junior year in college. Army ROTC scholarships consist of:
- Two-, three-, and four-year scholarship options based on the time remaining to complete your degree
- Full-tuition scholarships
- The option for room and board in place of tuition, if you should qualify
- Additional allowances for books, fees, and living expenses.

Baker Trust Scholarship
Baker Trust located in LaCrosse, KS is interested in assisting persons who are already Registered Nurses in completing the BSN or MS degrees in nursing and in encouraging those persons to remain in Western Kansas in order to provide quality nursing care to citizens of that region. Persons must live in Kansas west of Highway 81 in order to be eligible to be considered. Applications are accepted each semester by the School of Nursing from currently enrolled students. Students must be enrolled in 6 credits during the semesters in which they receive Baker Trust funds. Caroline E. Holt Nursing Scholarship
A $1000 Scholarship awarded to students who have been accepted into or who are pursuing an approved course of study to become a nurse and who are in financial need. You can get an application and more information at www.dar.org. Deadline is February 15.
Christine Dolecheck Medical Scholarship

Mingenback Family Scholarship
One of the Golden Belt Community Foundation Scholarships, the Mingenback Family Scholarship is a $500 scholarship awarded to a Barton County, KS resident who is a full time undergraduate or graduate, majoring in a health/medical related field, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Elizabeth Miller Watkins Memorial Scholarship
KUMC undergraduate women students are eligible for this renewable $1,000 award. Applicants must be enrolled full-time, have a 3.0 GPA or higher, demonstrate financial need, and serve one year on the EMWMS Advisory Committee upon graduation. Mary Alice Hartigan Scholarship
Students must be enrolled in full-time hours of study for a regular semester in an accredited/approved nursing or surgical services program. Maintain a reasonably good grade point average and meet academic standards. Please indicate prior and/ or current service to humanity or health care and demonstrate financial need. Applicants must reside within the Heartland Foundation service regions which include the following counties in MO: Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Caldwell, Carroll, Clay,Clinton, Davies, DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Platte, Ray and Worth; In IA: Decatur, Fremont, Page, Ringgold, and Taylor; In KS: Atchison, Brown, Doniphan; and NE: Nemaha, and Richardson. Jack Kent Cooke Foundation - Undergraduate Transfer Program
This award is for Undergraduate students planning to attend a full time Graduate School program . The maximum award for this scholarship is $50,000. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Applications can be found at www.jackkentcookefoundation.org. Deadline December 5.
James B. Pearson Fellowship Award
This award provides assistance to graduate students who have been approved to be involved in a study abroad program. The average stipend awarded is $2,456. Applications can be received by calling the Kansas Board of Regents at (785) 296-3517. Deadline is April 1.
Japanese Medical Society of America Scholarship
A $2,500-$20,000 Scholarship that can be awarded to medical or nursing students enrolled at KUMC. Please find the details of their award and application here. Deadline is December 31st.
Kansas Ethnic Minority Scholarship
The Kansas Ethnic Minority Scholarship program is designed to assist financially needy, academically competitive students who are identified as members of any of the following ethnic/racial groups: African American, American Indian or Alaskan Native; Asian or Pacific Islander; or Hispanic. Kansas Nurses Foundation
The Kansas Nurses Foundation will award scholarships to applicants who meet specific criteria established through the endowed or managed scholarships. Information on the Kansas Nurses Foundation scholarships, the applications, and contact information can be found at their site. Deadline is June 30.
Kansas Nursing Service Scholarship
Designed to encourage enrollment in nursing programs by Kansans committed to practicing in Kansas. Recipients sign agreements to practice nursing at specific facilities one year for each year of scholarship support. Kansas State Scholarship
This program is designed to assist financially needy students in the top 20-40% of Kansas high school graduates who are designated as state scholars. Lillian & Arthur Dunn Scholarship
This $2,000 scholarship is available for deserving sons and daughters of members of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution for four years of college to complete an Undergraduate or Graduate degree. Madeline Pickett (Halbert) Cogswell Nursing Scholarship
Students who are accepted or enrolled in a Nursing program may apply for this National Society of Daughters of American Revolution Nursing Scholarship. Applicants must be members, decendents of members or eligible for membership in NSDAR. You can get an application and more information by going to their site . Deadline is February 15th.
Mildred Nutting Scholarship
A one time $1000 Scholarship for students who have been accepted or are currently enrolled at KUMC school of nursing. Preference is giving to candidates from the Greater Lowell, MA area. You can go to their site for more information and an application. Deadline is February 15.
National Black Nurses Association Scholarship Program
Applicant must be currently enrolled in a nursing program and in good scholastic standing at the time of application. Must be a member of NBNA and a member of a local chapter (Greater Kansas City Black Nurses Association) and have at least one full year of school remaining. National Institutes of Health Undergraduate Scholarship
The NIH Undergraduate Scholarship Program offers competitive scholarships to KUMC students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are committed to careers in biomedical, behavioral and social science health-related research. Applications and information can be found at here. Deadline is February 28.
Navy Nurse Corps
The Nurse Candidate Program (NCP) is a financial assistance program for students enrolled in a baccalaureate nursing program. Upon completion of degree requirements, the student must accept a commission as a Nurse Corps (NC) officer. You may read further information here.
Nursing Services Scholarship
KUMC nursing students who are pursuing a career in Kansas are eligible for this award. Students must be enrolled full-time at KUMC. Students interested in applying must complete the FAFSA, complete the Financial Aid Sources for Kansas Students Application along with a $10 fee found at www.kansasregents.org, complete the scholarship application, and obtain sponsorship from a medical provider for whom they want to work. Deadline is May 1.
Saint Joseph Health Center Nursing Scholarship
This $500-$1,000 Scholarship is available to KUMC nursing students who demonstrate financial need. Candidates must be enrolled or entering their junior or senior year or pursuing graduate studies in nursing. You can get an application by contacting (816) 942-4400. Deadline is March 1.
Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Scholarship
The Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Scholarship Fund was established to assist those pursuing a BSN in nursing, and who need financial assistance.
Additionally, any student who receives a Trinity Lutheran School of Nursing Scholarship can also be considered for the LA Hollinger MD scholarship by writing a short essay. There is no need for students to complete both applications. More information can be found here. Deadline is May 1.
Zola N. and Lawrence R. Nell Educational Trust
This scholarship awards funds to post-baccalaureate students studying medicine, dentistry, nursing, and allied health professions.
