KUMC School of Medicine-Wichita Visiting Student Information
Visiting International Student Information

After much thoughtful consideration, and with the well-being of students, staff, and patients at the center of this decision, it has been decided by Executive Dean Ojo (in consultation with UKHS) that visiting students (international or domestic) will not be allowed on the KC campus for the 2020-2021 academic year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The KC campus will offer one course (virtually) to allopathic students interested in Urology as a specialty choice. This will be a two week virtual rotation - SURG 925. Ambulatory Specialties (Virtual) Selective in Urological Surgery, which can be applied for through VSAS/VSLO. Description of Course: To optimize the health of men, women, and children, physicians must be able to diagnose, manage, and provide preventive advise concerning a wide range of conditions and symptoms pertaining to the genitourinary tract. The process depends on adequate patient assessment and appreciation of the epidemiology and pathophysiology of individual conditions, and the appropriate use of medical, surgical, and other interventions. Students will be on service for a total of two weeks. During that time they will participate in the following activities remotely and virtually: lectures, conferences, case series, technical labs, mock patients, outpatient clinic with supervised patient encounters as well as telehealth visits, operating room experience via simulcast and observation, creative writing exercises, as well as grand rounds presentation.

The University of Kansas School of Medicine Kansas City Campus utilizes the AAMC Visiting Student Application Service, to receive visiting MD and DO student applications. For more information on VSAS, please see  or contact or (202) 478-9878.

Visiting medical students may enroll in elective 1 or 2 of the eligible rotations (total of 8 weeks) at the University of Kansas School of Medicine Kansas City campus. Visiting students will be considered only after the University of Kansas medical students have been scheduled. Eligible rotations and dates are listed in VSAS. The Kansas Campus does not accept off-cycle dates for rotations.

A COMPLETE application must be received 30 days prior to the start of the rotation in order to be considered.
