Patricia A. Thomas, MD, MA, is Associate Dean for Cultural Enhancement and Diversity for the School of Medicine, and a professor of pathology. Dr. Thomas earned an undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Harvard, a masters degree in biochemistry and biology at the University of Kansas, and the doctor of medicine degree from New York University School of Medicine.

As an anatomic pathologist with specialty boards in cytopathology, Dr. Thomas' areas of expertise are the fine-needle aspiration technique and breast pathology. Her research interests include the biological and health service related issues involved in the racial/ethnic differences in breast cancer survival. She is also Director of KU Medical Center's Center for Cytopathology and Cytodiagnostic Services.
