GHHS members took an opportunity to give back to the community. GHHS students and faculty spent a Saturday installing insulation and drywall and painting at Grace United Ministries in Kansas City, MO.
Grace United Ministries provides an after-school and Saturday tutoring program for area children, meals for the disadvantaged and homeless, AA, NA and other recovery programs, a summer youth program with other initiatives in the works. Volunteers joined the effort to expand the classroom space, improve the dining and pantry areas, cleaning and brightening the building.

Gold Humanism Honor Society Members lent a hand in assisting with the M1 Community Service Day, organized by KUMC External and Alumni Affairs. Laura Thomas, Gold member and 4th year medical student led the recruitment effort with the assistance of fellow GHHS members: Adam Obley, Ebony Copeland, and Ben Williams. And fellow classmates: Andrew Arther, Andrew Schlachter, Anita Hegde, Courtney Huhn, Elizabeth Rinehart, Cori Anderson, Kara Sloan, Katherine Seymour, Kayron Kelly, Kelly Jo Easley, Kimberly Carter and Robert McCully and the entering school of medicine class of 2012.
