2008 Faculty award winners
Faculty members in the School of Medicine were honored at the Annual Faculty Retreat on September 19, 2008. The Ruth Bohan Teaching Professorship is the most prestigious award for teaching in the School of Medicine. Honored with this award were John Wood, PhD and Michael Moncure, MD. Paul Cheney, PhD and Daniel Stechschulte, MD were both presented with the Lifetime Achievement in Mentoring Award -- "The Jayhawk" given to professors with over 20 years at KUSoM. Debra Sullivan, PhD, RD from the School of Allied Health was the recipient of the Honorary Mentoring Award. Mentoring awards recognize a commitment of time to fostering the professional growth of junior faculty through mentoring service. A new annual Faculty Leadership Award was established to recognize a faculty member who has demonstrated exemplary leadership that has transformed or revitalized an existing program or created an innovative program in the University of Kansas, School of Medicine. Glendon G. Cox, MD, MBA, MHSA, for whom the award was named, was presented with the first award. (Pictured left to right: Cheney, Cox, Wood, Moncure, Sullivan, Stechschulte)
