Dr. Lee received a Ph.D. in economics from The Johns Hopkins University. Prior to coming to the University of Kansas in 1991, he held positions at the University of North Carolina, the Urban Institute, and the Brookings Institution.
Dr. Lee teaches Health Care Economics (HP&M 814), Strategic Management of Health Services (HP&M 840), Quality Management (HP&M 863), and Cost-Effectiveness and Medical Decision Analysis (HP&M 872) in the MHSA Program. His current research is in the areas of long-term care and hospital quality. Recent publications appear in the American Journal of Medical Quality and the Journal of Gerontological Nursing.
From 1997 - 2000, he was Interim Chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management; he currently serves as MHSA Program Director.
