Education Council


The Education Council and its two committees are concerned with all aspects of the content and conduct of the School's educational programs.

Membership

  • representatives of all departments offering required clerkships or courses
  • four at-large members elected by Kansas City departments that do not offer required clerkships or courses
  • two at-large members elected by Wichita-based faculty
  • two non-voting ex officio representatives (one of Executive Dean and one of Dean of the Wichita campus)
  • four students (voting): one each from first and second years, one from Kansas City clinical years, and one Wichita student.

Duties

  • regular and timely review of the curriculum, including implementation and evaluation
  • making recommendations to Executive Committee concerning goals, content, organization of curriculum and requirements for graduation
  • encouraging and fostering innovation in educational programs
  • reviewing outcome measures and making appropriate recommendations for improvements

Process

Required meetings in Spring and Fall. Regular meetings as needed to conduct business (usually monthly).

Proposed bylaws changes would confirm the two permanent subcommittees as Year One and Two Oversight Committee and Year Three and Four Oversight Committee. Previously subcommittees were the curriculum committees on each campus.
