The Abridged Edition of the Academic Guidelines for Promotion and/or Tenure in the School of Medicine

The School of Medicine provides the faculty with numerous on-line resources regarding Promotion and Tenure (P&T).  The purpose of this section is to provide an abridged version of the documents found on-line so that a faculty member can see at a glance what is expected for promotion from their current Rank and Track. It is imperative that faculty members review the official SOM Guidelines document, as well as the SOM Promotion and Tenure website which are the definitive resources.   The Department of Internal Medicine would like to thank Susan Pingleton, MD, Professor of Medicine for her extensive  contributions, time and dedication towards the development of this site and in particular for development of the links,  Understanding Ranks & Tracks and the Abridged Promotion Guidelines.

NOTE: The term "expectations" is used to describe department specific responsibilities related to your appointment.  The first are expectations discussed regarding your Annual Faculty Assessment form.  The second is with regard to promotion and tenure.  This web page addresses the P&T expectations for all faculty members.
