Chancellors Distinguished Teaching Awards

History

The Chancellors Club established in 1977, by the Kansas Endowment Association, is KU’s major-donor organization. The Chancellors Club gives two teaching awards that affect KUMC and the Wichita campus. There is a difference between the two awards. The awards were established in 1981 by the KU Endowment Association to recognize and honor teaching excellence among KU faculty. Recipients are selected for their outstanding teaching abilities as acknowledged by students and colleagues.

The Chancellors Club Teaching Award carries a $5,000 annual stipend for the remainder of the recipient’s career as a full time tenured faculty member, as long as they continue to teach full time. Chancellors Club Teaching Award recipients retain the title as long as they are engaged in full-time teaching at KU. This award is given periodically through Endowment for a total of six ever given to the School of Medicine faculty. The Chancellors Distinguished Teaching Award is a one-time award. The process outlined below is the same for both.
