Clinical Skills Lab

In 2002, the School introduced a new teaching tool that has revolutionized the way students learn the basics of clinical care. The Delbert D. Neis, MD, Clinical Skills Laboratory house 4,000 square feet of mock exam and procedure rooms where students hone their skills at drawing blood, starting IVs, conducting physical exams and creating patient records. Students also practice their communication and exam techniques with standardized patients, or actors portraying patients. Simulation equipment that closely mimics real emergency situations teaches them the fundamentals of cardiac and life support. Each room is equipped with state-of-the-art video equipment to assess students' clinical skills.
