How to Apply Bachelor of Science Nursing

Application and Deadlines

Thank you for your interest in applying to the RN to BSN Program at the University of Kansas. Students are admitted to this program three times per year.

Deadlines: All parts of the application (including transcripts and references) must be submitted by the appropriate deadline. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply early.

  • March 1: Summer session admission deadline. The Summer 2014 deadline has been extended to March 31, 2014.
  • June 1: Fall session admission deadline
  • Oct. 1: Spring session admission deadline

NursingCAS: The University of Kansas School of Nursing uses the online Nursing Centralized Application Service (NursingCAS) for applicants to our degree programs.

Transcripts: Please note that you will need to reference your transcripts while completing the course work section of the NursingCAS application. If you do not already have access to a student copy, you should request a personal copy prior to beginning the application. Official transcripts from each institution attended must be submitted directly to NursingCAS using the transcript request form found on their website.

**Submit transcripts as early as possible (at least 4-6 weeks before the application deadline) to allow time for NursingCAS to verify your application.

Letters of recommendation: In addition to official transcripts, applicants to the KU School of Nursing are also required to submit three letters of recommendation directly to NursingCAS. Gather the names, titles and email addresses of the three people from whom you wish to request references. References should be requested from people who are able to describe your potential to be successful in the nursing program and as a nurse. You should avoid asking personal friends or family members. Faculty, graduate teaching assistants, supervisors from work or volunteer experiences, or advisers/leaders from extracurricular or community activities would all be appropriate people to ask.

Supplemental application: Within 7-14 days of your NursingCAS application being deemed complete, you will receive an email invitation from the University of Kansas with instructions on how to complete the supplemental application, which consists of a written interview where you will have the opportunity to tell us about your background and experiences. The supplemental application includes a $60 application fee, separate from the NursingCAS processing fee.
