Scope of Work: The lab focuses on pathway analysis (inflammation, aging) related to carcinogenesis and novel drug development and biomarker discovery. The team is recognized nationally as expert in bladder cancer pre-clinical modeling and is routinely sought by academia and industry for collaboration. We utilize a large tissue bank biorepository, cell culture and in vivo models (nude, transgenic and carcinogen treated) with goals of Phase I/II translation.
Funding: The lab has successfully competed for extramural funding and is currently funded in kind/perpetuity by annual philanthropic donation from the Leo & Anne Albert Charitable Trust as well as support from The University of Kansas (Departmet of Urology, Cancer Center). The lab hosts annual summer medical student research fellowships (2-3/year).
