J. Brantley Thrasher, MD
Dr. Thrasher is the William L. Valk Distinguished Professor of Urology and currently the President-elect of the American Urological Association. He completed a Urologic Oncology Fellowship at Duke University and focuses primarily, clinically and academically, in the area of prostate cancer. He is currently a co-investigator, mentor or collaborator on seven grants. These grants range from basic science to outcomes research in prostate cancer. His basic science work is in the area of prostate cancer prevention with agents such as lithium or targeted delivery of specific inhibitors for prostate cancer. His translational research has revolved around nutrition, energy balance and obesity and weight loss in the prevention of prostate cancer. Dr. Thrasher is funded through the Department of Defense, the American Cancer Society, and the CDC.
