How to Apply

Application information for U.S. Medical School Graduates

•        Applications only accepted through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)
•        Pass USMLE (First attempt)
•        For D.O. students: We do accept COMLEX scores in place of USMLE scores, but USMLE is preferred.
•        Minimum of 3 Letters of Recommendation from medical school faculty, submitted directly through ERAS
•        Personal Statement, & CV submitted with ERAS application
•        Medical School Transcript
•        Official Dean's Letter or MSPE

 Application information for International Medical Graduates (IMGs)
•        Applications only accepted through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)
•        USMLE  scores above 210 (First attempt only)
•        3 Letters of Recommendation from medical school faculty
•        U.S. citizenship, or Permanent U.S. Resident, or Only J1 Visas are sponsored
•        Graduation from medical school within the past two years
•        Must have ECFMG certificate by match day
•        Personal Statement, & CV submitted with ERAS application

The deadline for applications is October 1.  Applications submitted after this date may not be reviewed.

Interviews are held annually in the months of October, November, December, and January on Wednesday or Saturday. The interview days for 2017-2018 are:

  • Wednesday, October 31, 2018
  • Wednesday, November 7, 2018
  • Saturday, November 17, 2018
  • Wednesday, December 5, 2018
  • Saturday, December 15, 2018

Kansas City is located in the center of the country and is readily accessible from Kansas City International Airport, Interstates I-70, I-35, I-29, I-49, and Amtrak.

All interviewees are also invited to dinner the Tuesday or Friday night preceding their interview with some of our current General Surgery residents. This is not a requirement of the interview, but a nice way to mingle with some of our current residents in a more relaxed atmosphere.
