Faculty Appointments

FAD coordinates and processes all of the faculty paperwork for the School of Medicine. With close to 1,000 full-time and 2,000 volunteer faculty members, we stay pretty busy making sure all of I's are dotted and T's are crossed. Over the past year, FAD has been working, revising, improving our newly created faculty appointment process. After four years of thoughtful and innovative development, the Paper-Lite system was introduced in December 2014. Since the rate of hiring for new faculty appointments has increased at an amazing rate over the last 10 years, it was time to push all of that paper into an electronic format. Our new system, housed in SharePoint, is available to department administrators and chairs here, along with instructions, examples, templates, and a brand new step-by-step handbook to help the SoM departments find answers to all of their questions.

FAD was also chosen to present a poster at the Annual Group on Faculty Affairs (GFA) Conference in 2015. The poster received a lot of attention at the conference from the many schools struggling with the same issues. We even had follow up phone calls with the Faculty Affairs offices at Harvard and MD Anderson. We were honored and happy to share our efficient new processes with these institutions, along with several others. For a look at our poster, it is hanging in our Murphy office and also here.
