KUMC radiology established the KU RAD AID chapter in 2018. RAD AID is an organization that concentrates its efforts on implementing sustainable radiology services in underserved, impoverished, and/or resource-limited areas of the world.
Our work is currently focused at St. Paul Hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. St. Paul is a university affiliated government owned tertiary hospital serving approximately 200,000 people annually. KU radiology organizes annual trips to do hands on diagnostic and interventional training for local radiologists. We are helping to establish a strong IR fellowship training program in St. Paul this year. In collaboration with UMKC, a breast imaging fellowship program was created January 2019. RAD AID participants worked with the MInistry of Health of Ethiopia to start a nationwide breast screening program.
