Clinical Research Team

Discovering innovations in the treatment of cancer patients is a central mission of the KU Department of Radiation Oncology.

Meet Our Team: 

Christopher Baierl BSc, CCRP - Associate Project Director, Clinical Trials Office, KU Cancer Center

With a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin - Parkside, Chris has had extensive experience with pharmaceutical companies and contract research organizations. Since 2008, Chris has enjoyed his roles as a Data Coordinator, Study Coordinator, and Assoc. Project Director in the Clinical Trials Office at the KU Cancer Center. Starting in 2010, Chris focused on Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) studies, with development of a team to support the National Clinical Trials Network studies at KUMC and the Community Sites.

Leah Miller, MS - Clinical Research Coordinator 

Leah obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a pre-health specialization from The Ohio State University in 2016.  She is currently finishing a dual specialty Master's in Applied Clinical and Preclinical Research from Ohio State.  Leah is from the Kansas City area and is thrilled to be back home and starting her career at the University of Kansas.  Aside from Clinical Research, Leah enjoys travelling, cheering on her favorite sports teams, and exploring KC with her friends and family.

Amanda Schroeder, MPH - Grants Regulatory Specialist 

Amanda graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Kansas State University in 2011. She then went on to complete a Masters of Public Health from the Colorado School of Public Health in 2015.  Amanda has previously worked with non-profit organizations, with focus on program evaluation and data analysis. In her free time she enjoys coaching competitive girls gymnastics and everything Kansas City has to offer.

Michelle Faucheux, RN - Clinical Resource Nurse

Michelle graduated from Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in 1992. She has experience in I.C.U., Adolescent Psychiatry, Pain Management, School Nursing and Recovery Room Nursing. She is originally from New Orleans, and has been in the Kansas City area since 1992. Michelle enjoys her frequent interactions with patients, as they provide key information which will be used for research purposes in advancing patient care. She enjoys spending time with her two college-aged children, exercising, college sports and playing with her 100 pound goldendoodle.
