Kansas City Metro Methadone Program
The Kansas City Metro Methadone Program, located on the campus of the University of Kansas Medical Center, is the eighth oldest methadone maintenance clinic in the country, founded in 1966. The clinic offers medication assisted treatment of opiate addiction under the direction of Jan Campbell., M.D., Medical Director.
The clinic provides medication, counseling and case management services to persons who are dependent on opiates, including heroin, many prescription pain medications and other narcotic drugs. A thorough assessment is conducted on each patient entering the program and an individualized treatment plan is developed to address the unique needs and problems of each individual
Methadone maintenance treatment is ideally suited for those addicted to opiates. It greatly reduces drug cravings, delays physical withdrawal symptoms indefinitely, and has a blockade effect against the abuse of other opiates. Stabilization on a daily dose of methadone allows the individual to resume a productive life without the use or abuse of unnecessary or illicit substances.
If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about methadone maintenance treatment, contact the clinic to schedule and appointment.
