Psychiatry and Internal Medicine/Psychiatry Residency Programs

Applications for the Psychiatry and Medicine/Psychiatry Residency Programs are processed through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Visit the ERAS website for additional application instructions. Both of the above categorical residency programs participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).

Psychiatry Applicant Requirements:

  • All medical schools must meet accreditation requirements of the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.
  • You must have passed USMLE Steps 1, 2 and CS OR COMLEX Levels 1, 2 and PE prior to the submission of our rank order list. While we do not have minimum score requirements, we prefer passing scores on the first attempt for Steps 1 and 2 and require that you pass CS on the first attempt.
  • According to the University of Kansas School of Medicine Policy, only ECFMG-sponsored J-1 visas are accepted.
  • A minimum of six months of U.S. clinical experience is preferred.
  • We prefer that you have graduated from medical school within the past seven (7) years.

Internal Medicine/Psychiatry Applicant Requirements:

  • All medical schools must meet accreditation requirements of the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.
  • You must have passed USMLE Steps 1, 2 and CS OR COMLEX Levels 1, 2 and PE prior to the submission of our rank order list. While we do not have minimum score requirements, we require passing scores on the first attempt on all USMLE or COMLEX examinations.
  • According to the University of Kansas School of Medicine Policy, only ECFMG-sponsored J-1 visas are accepted.
  • A minimum of six months of U.S. clinical experience is preferred.
  • We prefer that you have graduated from medical school within the past three (3) years.

 

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Program

Applications for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Programs are processed through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Addiction Psychiatry Residency Program

Required Application Materials

  • Complete Application
  • Photo taken within the past six months
  • Dean’s letter from your medical school
  • Copy of your medical school transcript
  • Three letters of reference, prepared within the last six months
  • Current curriculum vitae prepared within three months of application
  • Personal statement
  • COMLEX or USMLE Transcripts
  • Good Standing Letter from Current Program Director Verifying Completion of Psychiatry Program
