Monica Kurylo, Ph.D., ABPP-Rp, is an Associate Professor (Clinical Scholar track) and Director of NeuroRehabilitation Psychology in the Departments of Psychiatry and Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center. 

She received her doctorate degree in clinical psychology (health/rehabilitation emphases) at the University of Kansas in 1997, and has internship and postdoctoral experience in rehabilitation psychology and neuropsychology.  She is board certified in Rehabilitation Psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). 

As the Director of Neurorehabilitation Psychology Services at KUMC, Dr. Kurylo leads a team that includes a postdoctoral psychology fellow and doctoral psychology interns in providing inpatient and outpatient evaluation and treatment services and consulting within the interdisciplinary treatment teams in rehabilitation, burn, and trauma.  She also provides supervision and classroom instruction to doctoral clinical psychology students, interns and fellows, provides didactic education and supervision for rehabilitation medicine and psychiatry medical residents, and serves on the Kansas University Hospital Center for Concussion Management interdisciplinary team.  She also serves on master's thesis and dissertation committees for students in the KU Lawrence clinical psychology program and occupational therapy graduate program at KUMC. 

Dr. Kurylo is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) Commission on Accreditation, a representative for the APA to the JCAHO Behavioral Health Professional and Technical Committee, a member-at-large of the executive board of the Academy of Rehabilitation Psychology, and a member of the selection committee for the Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology (LIWP). She also serves as Treasurer of the Kansas Psychological Association and as a member of the Kansas BSRB LP (Psychologist) Advisory Committee.  She was a member, Vice Chair, and Chair of the Committee for the Advancement of Professional Practice (CAPP) of the APA and APA Practice Organization from 2010-2015.  She also is a member of APA Divisions 22 (Rehabilitation Psychology), 40 (Neuropsychology), 38 (Health), 35 (Society for Women), 31 (State, Provincial and Territorial Psychological Association Affairs), and 12 (Clinical Psychology), and of the Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers (APAHC; Section 8 within Division 12), the Kansas Psychological Association, and WIMS-KUMC Chapter. 

Her research interests include stress among professional and family caregivers and concussion. 

She loves attending KU Men's Basketball and MLS Sporting KC soccer games and dining out with her husband.  She also enjoys spending quality time with her husband, family, and feline companions.
