Monica Kurylo, Ph.D., ABPP, is a Professor, Director of Neurorehabilitation Psychology, and Assistant Director of the Division of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She joined the faculty at the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2005. Dr. Kurylo received her doctorate degree in clinical psychology (health/rehabilitation emphases) at the University of Kansas, and has internship and postdoctoral experience in rehabilitation psychology and neuropsychology. She is board certified in rehabilitation psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). As the Director of Neurorehabilitation Psychology Services at KUMC, she provides inpatient and outpatient evaluation and treatment services, consults as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment teams in rehabilitation, burn, and trauma, and provides supervision for doctoral practicum graduate students, doctoral interns, and postdoctoral fellows in psychology, as well as supervision for psychiatry medical residents, and didactic training for rehabilitation medicine residents. As the Assistant Director, she assists in faculty hiring and clinical services oversight. Her research interests include concussion and stress among professional and family caregivers. She also serves as the Leadership Team Coordinator/Primary Supervisor for the Health Psychology Practicum at KUMC for the KU-Lawrence Clinical Psychology graduate students.
Dr. Kurylo is a member of the American Psychological Association Commission on Accreditation and serves as Chair of the Postdoctoral Policy Group for CoA. She also serves as Member at Large for APA Division 31 (State, Territorial and Provincial Psychological Affairs) and is President-Elect for 2019, as the President of the Board of Governors for the Kansas Psychological Association, as a member of the LP Advisory Committee to the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board, and as a Member at Large of the Academy of Rehabilitation Psychology. She was also recently elected to serve as a Division 22, Rehabilitation Psychology, Representative for the APA Council of Representatives beginning in 2019. She is a member of Divisions 22 (Rehabilitation Psychology), 40 (Neuropsychology), 38 (Health), 35 (Society for Women), 31 (State, Provincial and Territorial Psychological Affairs), and 12 (Clinical Psychology) of APA, Section 8 in Division 12 (Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers (APAHC)), the Kansas Psychological Association, the Academy of Rehabilitation Psychology, and Women in Medicine and Science.
