Cancer Screening Utilization Among Underserved Populations
For over a decade, I have built a multi-method approach research program from the ground up that focuses on systems-based approaches to determining key variables and effective behavioral-theory oriented methods to promote breast and colon cancer screening, particularly among underserved populations.
My teaching encompasses didactic classroom, small group instruction and one-on-one mentoring. While teaching, I strive to engender a teaching environment in which students are active participants in their education. I work to identify methods to cover the basics and then lead students in engaging conversations during which they take ownership of the discussion. My teaching interests include healthcare quality improvement, cancer screening and prevention, and clinical practice-based research.
