Redesign of clinical practice to improve delivery of preventive health services and management of chronic illness.
My research focuses on improving primary care delivery and delivery of preventive services with a particular focus on tobacco control, cancer screening, diabetes management, and cardiovascular health.
My teaching addresses the intersection of public health and clinical practice. I work with students to move beyond focusing on one patient at a time and help them look at health related problems from a population perspective. I work with them to identify systems-level factors that influence health. I seek to engage students in practical examples of practice-based learning and improvement and show them how they can apply scientific principles to improving health within their own practice or community.
