Research Assistant Professor
Ph.D., in Organic Chemistry, University of Stuttgart, Germany, 2007
I obtained my Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 2007 from University of Stuttgart in Germany. From 2007 to 2009, I worked at National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a visiting fellow. In 2009, I joined the laboratory of Dr. Ma as a postdoctoral fellow.
Research Interests
Drug metabolism, Drug-induced liver injury, Toxicometabolomics
My research focuses on mechanisms of hepatotoxicity caused by anti-HIV and anti-tuberculosis (TB) drugs. The role of CYP3A-mediated metabolic activation in anti-HIV/TB drug-induced liver injury is investigated in genetically engineered PXR and CYP3A mouse models. An LC-MS-based metabolomic approach is used to profile: (1) reactive metabolites of anti-HIV/TB drugs and (2) biomarkers of anti-HIV/TB drug-induced liver injury.
