B.S. in Pharmceutical Science, Fudan University, Shanghai, China

I come from Shanghai, China and got my B.S. degree from the School of Pharmacy at Fudan University in 2011. During my undergraduate studies I mainly focused on pharmacology related courses. After graduation, I chose the University of Kansas Medical Center to continue my education. Because of my interest in pharmacology, after the first year of IGPBS I joined Dr. Hagenbuch's lab to pursue a PhD degree in pharmacology.

Research Interests

My research interest is on the function and structure relationship of organic anion transporting polypeptides (OATPs). OATP1B3, one of the multi-specific transporters in the OATP family, is specifically expressed in liver and is responsible for the transport of several endo- and xenobiotics. The substrates of OATP1B3 include bile acids, hormones and numerous drugs, including some cancer drugs. Therefore, understanding the structure and function of OATP1B3 should help developing novel drugs targeting this transporter. I am currently trying to identify the substrate binding sites of OATP1B3 by using photoaffinity labeling.
