B.Tech. in Biotechnology, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, India
I am originally from New Delhi, India. I earned Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, India in 2009. Afterwards, I worked as a research assistant under Dr. Alok C Bharti at Institute of Cytology and Preventive Oncology (ICPO). I joined the IGPBS program at KUMC in 2011. After one year of research rotations I joined Dr. Xiaochao Ma's Lab to pursue Ph.D. in Toxicology.
Research Interests
My research focuses on mechanisms of isoniazid (INH)-induced liver injury. INH is a first-line drug for prevention and treatment of tuberculosis. It is commonly used alone or with combination with other drugs. INH hepatotoxicity is a common complication of antituberculosis therapy. Genetically engineered mouse models and a metabolomic approach are used to investigate mechanisms of INH-induced liver injury. Novel strategies, based upon our mechanistic studies, will be developed to predict, prevent, and treat the liver injury caused by INH.
