HOW TO ACCESS

Content Connections

Students actively discuss high-yield topics from select material from the previous week.  Connections to previously learned content enable students to practice knowledge acquisition and retrieval skills.  Sessions include peer-to-peer teaching and are facilitated by upperclassmen.

Question Groups

Students practice applying newly honed knowledge to board-style questions geared to lecture objectives.  Test taking strategy skills drive the discussions surrounding each question hand selected by learning specialists to sharpen critical thinking skills on high-yield topics.  Strategies include peer-to-peer teaching and may be facilitated by upperclassmen.

Learning Specialists

Learning specialists are process experts available to support and counsel students in ways that allow them to become better lifelong learners, studiers, time managers, etc. Just as people will soon be seeking you out for medical help, we are here to provide educational help. Some of the many services we provide include:  

  • Test taking strategies
  • Time management assistance
  • Board/Licensing Exam planning
  • Study groups
  • Learning styles counseling
  • Active Learning strategies
  • Note taking/efficiency
  • Test anxiety

Student-to-Student Academic Assistance

Students are encouraged to engage senior medical students for advising and assistance. 

If a specific need for tutoring is identified, the school can assist in connecting them with another student who has mastered that content area for short-term tutoring.
