Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship
The University of Kansas School of Medicine offers two ACGME-accredited orthopedic sports medicine fellowship positions. Our fellowship program combines a comprehensive educational experience, including a large variety of clinical, operative, and research experience, with extensive on-site care of athletes at all levels, from high school to the professional level. Our faculty collaborate to cover 13 area high schools, the Kansas City Royals, the Kansas City Chiefs, and University of Kansas athletics. This provides a broad variety of training room and sideline coverage opportunities. As a fellow, you will gain a wealth of complex shoulder and knee experience, but also in hip arthroscopy and adolescent and adult hip preservation, sport-related foot and ankle care, and sports-related elbow care. You will rotate with 5 fellowship-trained sports medicine surgeons, but also spend time with 5 other staff, including orthopedic surgeons and primary care sports medicine practitioners. The rotation schedule includes regular fellow's didactics, multi-disciplinary sports medicine journal club, resident and community teaching opportunities, and ample time to pursue research endeavors.
Fellows spend most of their time at our Indian Creek Campus in Overland Park, Kansas, but will also spend time in the training rooms and clinics of our Arrowhead and Lawrence, KS facilities as well.
