We offer a three-year ACGME-accredited program that has proudly graduated 158 outstanding ophthalmologists since the program began in 1946. Our most recent graduates are pictured below (left to right: Drs. Robert Null, Anjulie Quick and Derek Horkey). KU Eye Residents experience a well-rounded, intellectually stimulating education in comprehensive ophthalmology, plus the opportunity to gain experience in all sub-specialty areas.
Located off the main hospital campus at 7400 State Line Road, Prairie Village, KS, we have the benefits of a stand-alone ophthalmology, optometry and optical care center with convenient parking and easy accessibility, plus all the resources of KUMC and the KU Hospital near-by. Our main clinic is 17,000 square feet and includes 24 exam lanes, a minor operating room, electrophysiology and testing suites, optical shop and faculty, resident and administrative offices.
In April 2014, we opened the KU Eye Surgery & Laser Center, LLC, now known as the University of Kansas Hospital - Specialty Surgery, directly above the State Line clinic. The department also operates KU Eye Miller Clinic (two exam lanes and an optical shop) on the main campus, offering easy on-site ophthalmologic, optometric and optical care for medical center employees and patients.
