Salina Area
Salina was founded in 1858 under the motto, "Religion first, education second and business third." Salina has more than 46,000 citizens, and Saline County has about 54,000. Salina has one hospital, 22 medical clinics, 12 private practice offices, 11 chiropractic clinics, one residency program and Salina Family Healthcare for the indigent population. There are approximately 150 doctors, surgeons and dentists. The City Library has approximately 220,000 items for circulation. There are 26 parks, five museums and galleries and more than 200 civic clubs. At least 68 churches represent nearly every denomination. There are eight elementary schools, two middle schools, two senior high schools, and an alternative school for middle and high school students, six private schools with two providing high school, middle school and elementary education. Salina has approximately 30 hotels/motels and 80 restaurants.

An apartment is available a half-mile from the Smoky Hill Family Medicine Residency Program and Salina Regional Health Care Center.
Medical library
The medical library, located at the residency, offers current medical books, internet availability and current journals online.
