Specialty area you are interested in and why? Internal Medicine because of the breadth of clinical knowledge required and the clinical diversity of patients seen.
If you could have lunch with anybody, past or present, who would it be? None other than the "Great Soul", Mohandas K. Gandhi.  He, like many others, showed us the change we could make when we combine an unending compassion with an indomitable will.
Why KUMC? Because KUMC emphasizes scientific advancement that serves the patient, not the other way around.

Specialty area you are interested in and why? I really enjoy many aspects of medicine.  I like fast paced hospital environments.  I see myself in surgery, emergency medicine, or pulmonary/critical care.
If you could have lunch with anybody, past or present, who would it be? If I could have lunch with anyone it would be Mother Teresa.  I have a strong admiration for those who take risks, are innovative passionate, and have a love for others.  It would be wonderful to have the chance to channel some of her wisdom and knowledge, and understand how she persisted through her many challenges.
Why KUMC? Kansas City is home for me.  I have an excellent support system, and there are so many things to do in my free time.  I love the services that are offered to students and the tight-knit community on KUMC's campus.

Specialty area you are interested in and why? One of my primary interests in medicine is clinical oncology, particularly dealing with pediatric patients. I believe that Hispanic/Latino physicians in the medical field are scarce, particularly in the field of oncology. Dealing with cancer is hard enough, and having a physician that can relate to the diverse cultural environment in the U.S. is essential in order to provide better quality of care.
Favorite movie and why? or If you could have lunch with anybody, past or present, who would it be? (Choose one of these ques. to answer) if I could have lunch with anybody from the present, it would have to be with his holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.  Although I am not Buddhist, I believe that his teachings of peace and love through understanding and compassion are the path to a better life both as a physician and as a person.  I think I would enjoy just being in the presence of such an influential person both with his people and around the world. Through the teachings of world peace, the Dalai Lama has won the Nobel Peace Prize and sitting down and talking with such a figure of altruism would be very enlightening.
Why KUMC? I chose KUMC for many reasons including the curriculum, I like the fact that KUMC taught through organ systems as opposed to the traditional curriculum. I also enjoyed the fact that the faculty was very warm and welcoming to the students. I've lived in Kansas City most of my life so staying close to home also made a lot of sense.

Specialty area you are interested in and why?
I am interested in Med-Peds; combined Internal Medicine & Pediatrics. I like having multiple options therefore this specialty is attractive because not only does it provide the best of both worlds it also leaves open the option of pursuing a subspecialty in either specialty or both.
Favorite movie and why? My favorite movie is Crash. I think it paints an accurate portrait on racism, sexism, and classism in our modern society and depicts a message of ending racism on a personal level. This movie provoked a brief dialogue on racism and ethnic stereotypes, which I think is important if we are to overcome these issues.
Why KUMC? I love KUMC for its flexibility. I like that I am not shackled to the classroom and am able to podcast lectures any place and anytime that best fits my schedule. I think this has allowed me to construct an educational experience that meets my needs and has allowed me to serve my community volunteering at Jaydoc, KU's student-run free clinic.

Specialty area you are interested in and why? leaning towards Internal Medicine, but still undecided.
Favorite Movie and why? 13 Going on 30.  I like this movie because it's light-hearted, funny and a bit nostalgic. Jennifer Garner has great comedic timing and made the character "razzle" ;)
Why KUMC? I chose KUMC because I had heard good things about the system based curriculum, the location was convenient, the faculty and staff that I interacted with during the interviews were kind, interested in me as a person, and all the students talked about the collaborative spirit of their fellow students.
