Born and raised in Kansas, Dr. Parrish is honored to provide improved health care to the people of Kansas. After graduating with honors from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, he subsequently received his doctor of osteopathy degree from the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City. His internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology was completed at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. After completion of his residency, he spent three years at the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he successfully completed a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine in addition to receiving a masters in biomedical sciences. He then returned to the Kansas City area where he spent three years in a private practice and also held an academic position with the OB-GYN department of the University of Missouri-Kansas City. His desire to once again be involved in the many facets that a traditional academic medical institution led him to the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Dr. Parrish is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in both obstetrics and gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine. He has lectured on a variety of maternal-fetal disorders that plague pregnant women, in addition to presenting research at multiple local and national organizational sponsored events. He has published multiple papers in peer reviewed journals with much of his research focused on preeclampsia and other hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. Additionally, he has written several chapters focusing on the management of sickle cell disease in pregnant women.
Dr. Parrish is interested in many aspects of perinatology, but he hopes to continue to emphasize the importance of the maternal aspect of the maternal-fetal medicine subspecialty. By focusing on quality improvement initiatives he hopes to identify and address gaps in the current medical system that will help improve overall outcomes for high-risk, pregnant patients and their newborns. Dr. Parrish will capitalize on the resources that the University of Kansas Medical Center offers to provide exemplary patient care in addition to advancing our understanding of disease processes that complicate pregnancies.
Dr. Parrish cherishes the opportunity to spend time with his family and loves to travel with his wife when they can. Occasionally, Marc attempts to play golf but admits he shoots consistently in the triple digits.
