Dr. Clifford's Research

His primary area of research centers on the impact of pregnancy and disease on drug transport.  This research investigation seeks to understand the regulation of placental drug transport proteins, and to manipulate their activity to optimize drug delivery to the therapeutic target.

A secondary area of research involves identifying the biochemical mechanisms involved in normal and abnormal labor.  He seeks to characterize the molecular mechanisms mediating uterine contractility.
