KU Neurointerventional Team

The KU Neurovascular team is a recognized leader for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of various vascular diseases of the brain and spinal cord. We collaborate with diagnostic and neurointerventional radiology, neuro critical care, stroke neurology, radiation oncology, rehabilitation medicine, and others to treat a variety of vascular conditions:

Our patients receive state-of-the-art treatments, and complex cases are discussed at a multidisciplinary neurovascular conference which involves neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, neurointerventional radiologists, and radiation oncologists. The KU Neurovascular team also supports and participates in the aneurysm interest group, led by Nancy Sullivan, MS, RN.

Neurosurgical Procedures

  • Intracranial clipping of aneurysms
  • Intracranial resection of arteriovenous malformations (AVM's)
  • Extracranial-intracranial bypass for giant and complex aneurysms, and moyamoya disease

Neurointerventional Procedures

  • Coiling of intracranial aneurysms
  • Intracranial stents
  • Embolization of AVMs, tumors, and aneurysms
  • Placement of flow diverting stent, PipelineTM Embolization Device

Stereotactic Radiosurgery

  • Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) that are small or in a location better treated with radiosurgery
