Dr. Venkatesh received his Bachelor's degree from Annamalai University and his M.B.B.S. degree from Madurai University, both in India. After completing training in Internal Medicine in India, he completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, followed by a Neurology residency at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. In 1986 he became the Chair of the Neurology section at the VA Medical Center in Leavenworth, Kansas, and in 1988 joined the faculty at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
As Chief of the Neurology section at the Leavenworth Veteran's Medical Center, Dr. Venkatesh conducts a busy clinical practice combining inpatient care of neurology patients, inpatient and outpatient consultations, neurophysiology, and outpatient clinics. He is Board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has the added qualification of Clinical Neurophysiology.
Dr. Venkatesh's clinical interests are in general neurology and clinical neurophysiology. He is an avid teacher and has won the Distinguished Teaching Award from the residents of the Department of Neurology more than any other faculty member during his tenure with the University of Kansas.
