Dr. Osorio had initial training in his native country of Colombia prior to completing a residency and fellowship in neurology and epilepsy at the University of Miami School of Medicine. After serving on the faculty at Case Western Reserve University Department of Neurology, and the University Hospitals of Cleveland, Ohio, he joined the faculty of the University of Kansas where is now Director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center. Dr. Osorio is Board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Adult Neurology and by the American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology.
Dr. Osorio's research interests include advanced techniques for vagal nerve stimulation for the treatment of epilepsy, and developing a system for the prediction of rapid detection, warning and prevention of changes in activity states of the brain in regard to epilepsy. His clinical interests in the treatment of epilepsy as well as in the evaluation and application of brain surgery for treatment of intractable epilepsy.
