He conducts health services research (secondary data analysis) using the USRDS (United States Renal Data System) database to study whether and how exposure to cardioprotective medications influences outcomes in dialysis patients. His current area of interest in this regard relates to treatment of chronic atrial fibrillation in dialysis patients. Additionally, he conducts investigator-initiated interventional studies in patients with chronic kidney disease and end stage renal disease in order to examine how disorders of mineral metabolism affect patients and whether clinical interventions can ameliorate such disorders.
Clinical Interests
Dr. Wetmore is a general nephrologist who sees patients with the full spectrum of kidney diseases. He has a particular interest in management of chronic kidney disease and in the disorders of mineral metabolism.
