Our laboratory studies Borrelia spirochetes, the bacteria causing Lyme disease and relapsing fever. In particular, we are interested in defining the underlying mechanisms governing the deployment of the bacteria's main virulence factors, as well as their interactions with their mammalian hosts.

Just Post it! Jutras et al. (2012) use conditional overexpression of two DNA-binding proteins through our Post promoter (Whetstine et al., 2009) to reveal an additional fundamental layer of gene regulation in Borrelia burgdorferi.
