The PKD Biomarkers Core can provide the following biological samples:        

  • Serum or Plasma (250 μL per sample)
  • Urine (250 μL per sample)
  • Urinary Exosomes (25 μL per sample)

Specific parameters related to renal function, kidney size, age, rate of disease progression can be selected by the investigator.  Samples collected from age- and sex-matched normal volunteers and, in some cases, unaffected family members can be provided. The Director and Core personnel will provide de-identified clinical information, as well as the change in TKV and GFR.  Any distribution of research biomaterials must meet university material transfer agreements (MTAs).

The Core will provide the following services:

  • Myriad-RBM Kidney Selective and Comprehensive Human Discovery Multi-Analyte Profiles (MAPS) at a discounted cost
  • ELISA
  • Western Blot Analysis
  • Isolation of Urinary Exosomes
  • Trial Design Consultation

Acknowledgements

All core users must agree to acknowledge the PKD Biomarkers Core and NIH P30 funding in publications and presentations. Core usage will be documented in a “Core Facility Use” database and provided in annual progress reports.
