My major research interests are to study the regulatory mechanisms by which multipotent mesenchymal stem cells differentiate into osteoblasts (bone-forming cells) or chondrocytes (cartilage-forming cells) and investigate the roles of specific signaling pathways in skeletal diseases and bone/cartilage regeneration. Currently, research in my laboratory is focused on the following areas: (1) regulatory mechanisms of osteoblast differentiation and bone regeneration, (2) molecular regulation of chondrocyte differentiation/function and articular cartilage regeneration, and (3) pathogenic mechanisms and novel therapeutics for osteoarthritis.
