Early interest in Geriatrics led to a firm foundation in Palliative Medicine, which was fostered during Dr. Sinclair's Internal Medicine Residency.  A month rotation during his second year of residency encouraged the realization that one could practice Palliative Medicine as a career.  Having finished his palliative medicine fellowship, Dr. Sinclair has a great interest in education and making a proper balance between service and education.  He has been the Palliative Medicine Fellowship Director at Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care for 2 years, drawing on his own fellowship experiences and the many national and regional talks on end-of-life issues he gives.  Dr. Sinclair is also a graduate of the Harvard Palliative Care in Education and Practice Program and is the past chair of the Professionals-in-Training Special Interest Group for the AAHPM.  He keeps up to date on current literature in the hospice and palliative medicine field as co-editor of Pallimed, a blog focusing on end-of-life and education.

Areas of Interest

Education in palliative medicine, methadone, the physiology of the terminal phase, the physician's letter of condolence, lidocaine for neuropathic pain, alternate routes of drug administration, delivering difficult news, evidence-based symptom management, and prognostication.
