Learning objectives: lung exam, identification of diaphragm, neck vessels, femoral vessels, basics of DVT exam, dynamically following needle, identification of fluid collections, cases (describing and identifying abnormal images)
Ultrasound Core Conferences
An ultrasound trained attending leads conferences ~monthly at the KCVA to teach all residents at that site basics of ultrasound training.
ACCP Essentials for Critical Care
Scholarship for 1 resident per year to attend conference
Ultrasound Self-Directed Learning (pre-elective)
Residents can spend ½ days during their +1 week to work with an ultrasound trained attending instead of a subspecialty clinic that week.
Pre-elective course work with SonoSim modules
Elective in emergency department with ultrasound trained faculty
Ultrasound Self-Directed Learning (post-elective)
After completing the ultrasound elective, the residents can continue to be mentored by an ultrasound trained attending to have continued imaging reviews/feedback and attend case based sessions with pulmonary/critical care fellows.
