School of Medicine > Internal Medicine > Divisions > Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine > Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship
Our program consists of 12 fellows, four in each year, who are very involved in every aspect of patient care within the division. Fellows gain clinical experience via rotations at the University of Kansas Hospital and the Veterans Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri
The University of Kansas Hospital (KUH) is a 625-bed hospital, consistently rated the best hospital in Kansas City and Kansas. It is also the primary subspecialty hospital for a large area of the central US, covering all of Kansas, western Missouri, and parts of Arkansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Iowa
KUH is nationally ranked by US News and World Report in all 12 subspecialties, and the Pulmonary division has been as high as 12th in the past three years.
The Pulmonary division is the regional referral center for pulmonary hypertension, adult cystic fibrosis, asthma, COPD, and interstitial lung disease, with many patients enrolled in research studies. There is also exposure throughout fellowship to pre and post -transplant patients from kidney and liver to one of the busiest bone marrow transplant programs in the nation. Heart transplants will soon be performed here as well.
