Why I chose KU: I immediately noticed that the residents were easy-going and fun to be around. There is great clinic variety and exposure in our program with pediatric dermatology, VA, lots of surgical experience, Mohs, KU clinic, and interesting consults. Also, Kansas City is a great city with lots going on, not to mention great BBQ, so there are plenty of fun options with your free time.

Hobbies/interests: Spending time with friends and family, running outside, watching TV, exploring Kansas City
Why I chose KU: KU dermatology residency is affiliated with Children’s Mercy Hospital and we get to spend at least six months working with the four excellent pediatric dermatologists there. We have more time with a greater variety of pediatric dermatology attendings than is available at most programs. In addition, all of the residents and faculty at KU are extremely supportive and helpful. The residents hang out together most weeks and Kansas City offers many different kinds of restaurants and activities.
Hometown: Anaheim, California
Hobbies/interests: travelling, cooking and eating, exploring Kansas City, camping and hiking, spending time with friends and family
Why I chose KU: the staff and residents here were all so warm, welcoming, and friendly that I immediately felt at home here. What I loved about the program also is that we get to work at many different places (KUMC, the VA, Children’s Mercy Hospital) so therefore get to see all different types of patients, diseases, and treatment strategies. Kansas City also seemed like a great place to get to know with fun events, lots of food options (BBQ!), and a thriving music scene!

Why I chose KU: The dermatology residency program provides an excellent, well-rounded experience with rotations at Children's Mercy, the VA and KU in addition to Mohs surgery experience. The residents and faculty are great to work with and Kansas City provides many activities outside of work/studying such as Sporting KC soccer games, Royals games, Chiefs games, local breweries, the Nelson Art Museum and art events like First Fridays.

Why I chose KU: I chose KU because I knew it would be the perfect place for me to foster my career as an academic dermatologist. As a growing department, KU Dermatology has multiple opportunities for residents to explore academic and clinical dermatology. The faculty at KU, CMH, and the VA are very friendly and supportive. Moreover, Kansas City is a great place to live and raise a family. It has all of the benefits and attractions of a big city with a comfortable, small-town feel.
