Why I chose KU: I immediately noticed that the residents were easy-going and fun to be around. There is great clinic variety and exposure in our program with pediatric dermatology, VA, lots of surgical experience, Mohs, KU clinic, and interesting consults.  Also, Kansas City is a great city with lots going on, not to mention great BBQ, so there are plenty of fun options with your free time.

Why I chose KU: I had the opportunity to spend time with the dermatology program as a med student. I really enjoyed interacting with the staff and residents. It’s a very friendly environment with a lot of great teaching.

Brea Prindaville, M.D.

Hometown: Concordia, KS

  • Undergrad: Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH
  • Medical School: NYU School of Medicine, New York, NY
  • Internship and Residency: Yale University Pediatrics, completed 2012
  • Pediatric Dermatology Fellowship: Children’s Mercy Hospital, completed 2013

Hobbies/interests: Spending time with friends and family, running outside, watching TV, exploring Kansas City
Why I chose KU: KU dermatology residency is affiliated with Children’s Mercy Hospital and we get to spend at least six months working with the four excellent pediatric dermatologists there.  We have more time with a greater variety of pediatric dermatology attendings than is available at most programs.  In addition, all of the residents and faculty at KU are extremely supportive and helpful.  The residents hang out together most weeks and Kansas City offers many different kinds of restaurants and activities.

Chi Tran, M.D.

Hometown: Anaheim, CA

  • Undergrad: University of California, Los Angeles
  • Medical School: St. Louis University School of Medicine
  • Internship: Albert Einstein School of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center

Hobbies/interests: travelling, cooking and eating, exploring Kansas City, camping and hiking, spending time with friends and family
Why I chose KU: the staff and residents here were all so warm, welcoming, and friendly that I immediately felt at home here.  What I loved about the program also is that we get to work at many different places (KUMC, the VA, Children’s Mercy Hospital) so therefore get to see all different types of patients, diseases, and treatment strategies.  Kansas City also seemed like a great place to get to know with fun events, lots of food options (BBQ!), and a thriving music scene!
