Diabetes Centers

glucometerThe KU Diabetes Institute was formed in 2007 to advance research for prevention, control and a cure for diabetes. Researchers and clinicians from KU Medical Center (including Cray Diabetes Self-Management Center), the University of Kansas-Lawrence, and the KU School of Medicine-Wichita form the core of the institute. The institute is also the lead institution in the Midwest Diabetes Coalition, a network of regional academic and clinical institutions, as well as a variety of organizations – government and private – working toward prevention and control of diabetes.

The Cray Diabetes Self-Management Center is the clinical arm of the KU Diabetes Institute. The center's goal is to empower health care providers, people with diabetes and their families to become informed and remain current with diabetic management skills to promote health and prevent complications. The center is also dedicated to being a diabetic educational resource in the heartland. Named after Cloud and Sally Cray of Atchison, Kan., the center was established and continues to be supported by the Cray family.
