Integrative Nutrition cooking class

Integrative Medicine's fully-equipped kitchen provides an opportunity for patients, staff and students of KU Medical Center to learn "hands-on" how to prepare the most health-supportive foods using healthy cooking techniques.

Cooking class participants will:

  • Discover how to prepare foods that support specific health conditions such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes and other diet-related conditions.
  • Gain confidence, knowledge and skills in using healthy cooking techniques to prepare whole, minimally processed foods
  • Try delicious foods and collect exciting new recipes that can prevent and alleviate disease
  • Experience how cooking and eating healthy can be simple and enjoyable

Upcoming Classes

Soups and Stews
• Thursday, January 10th, 12:00-1:00 p.m., $25
Start the Year Fresh, Energize with Savory Soups: Herby Tuscan vegetable soup, sweet potato and black bean chicken stew, quick quinoa cabbage soup served with gluten-free squash cornbread muffins. Gluten- Free, Dairy-Free option.

Anti-inflammatory Meals
• Thursday, February 7th, 12:00-1:00 p.m., $25
Nourishing Meals: Cumin-crusted Salmon with Sesame apple broccoli salad, whipped sweet potatoes and berry dessert. Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free option.

Comfort Foods
• Thursday, March 7th, 12:00-1:00 p.m., $25
Healthy "American Style": Vitalize a burger wtih herbs and serve it on a flax focaccia bun. Apple, sweet potato & cinnamon compote and steamed greens compliment the meal. Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free.
