Barb Langner, PhD, was the Kansas Medicaid Director from June, 2009 through December, 2011 and from August, 2007 to June, 2009 had been the Policy Director of the Kansas Health Policy Authority. She was a primary participant in the development of the 2007 KHPA Health Reform Recommendations and was responsible the agency’s interface with the legislature. Prior to joining the KHPA, she was on the faculty of the University of Kansas School of Nursing and School of Medicine, teaching health policy and serving as principle investigator on multiple funded research projects on the uninsured. She was also a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellow with the Senate Finance Committee under Chair Senator Lloyd Bentsen. As of January 1, 2011, Barb has returned to KUMC assuming dual positions of Assistant Vice Chancellor for Public Policy and Associate Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management.
