Doctoral Student Funding

To address the funding needs of our doctoral students, the Program works with students individually to assess their employment situation and financial need. All HP&M doctoral students are enrolled full-time and are funded either through half-time employment in the healthcare or related field, through assistantships in the private sector, or through departmental assistantships.

 Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTAs)

  • Awarded annually; renewable on an annual basis contingent upon funding availability and academic progress
  • .50 FTE position
  • Taxable salary of approximately $923.00 per bi-weekly pay period (up to a maximum of 26 per year)
  • Full Tuition waiver
  • Health insurance discount (KUMC plan)
  • Requires continuous enrollment of 6 hour per semester (fall and spring) and 3 hrs summer

 

Graduate Research Assistantships (GRAs)

  • Awarded annually; renewable on a per semester basis contingent upon funding availability and academic progress
  • .50 FTE position
  • Taxable salary of approximately $923.00 per bi-weekly pay period (up to a maximum of 26 per year)
  • Tuition charged at in-state rate
  • Health insurance discount (KUMC plan)
  • Requires enrollment of 6 hour per semester (fall and spring) and 3 hrs summer

 

Fellowships

      Internal

  • Chancellor's Doctoral Fellowships. The Chancellor's Doctoral Fellowships are awarded to schools on a rotating basis in line with the distribution of doctoral students at the university. they provide a stipend of $25,000 per year and reduce recipients' work responsibilities during their first year and dissertation year, freeing up time for research.The Office of Graduate Studies administers the program. Student Loans

  •  Please contact the Student Financial Aid Office to discuss your eligibility for federal aid; completion of the FAFSA is required to apply for federal aid.
