martha montelloMartha Montello, PhD, Director

Dr. Montello is associate professor of History and Philosophy of Medicine and associate professor of Pediatrics at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She took her doctorate in Literature from the University of Maryland in 1987. She held faculty positions at Yale Medical School and Harvard Medical School before coming to KUMC in 1997. She co-chairs the Hospital Ethics Committee, directs and teaches courses in medical ethics, and publishes scholarly work in the areas of medical ethics, literature and medicine, and patient-physician relationship.

Heather McNeill, MA, Senior Editor

Heather joined the Writing Consult Center in February 2007. Since that time, she has edited hundreds of scientific manuscripts and grant proposals and has consulted with student and faculty writers on a diverse range of projects.  She received her M.A. degree in English literature from the University of Kansas. Ms. McNeill has worked on the staff of the journal American Family Physician, and has contributed feature articles to numerous publications over the past ten years. She is a founding member of a non-fiction writing group at The Writers Place.
